Hit the big Three Five

Yeah… on the 11th of July bruh man turned 35. I don’t even know what else to say about it. I have so much to be thankful for and am blessed by the grace of God to have made it this far. I’ve been so busy lately and just haven’t written as much as I’d like to. But I do try to add entries that mean the most to me vs the rhetoric I could be writing daily. My fiancee surprised me with the cake at my office the morning of my birthday. I’m grateful to have her in my life not for just that reason, but because she’s a wonderful person. I spent the evening of my birthday with my two youngest nieces at my mom’s house, along with my sister, my mom and her husband. We ate Ledo’s pizza and the strawberry shortcake. I’m not really into spectacular parties and big things and just enjoy being around family on my day. Since I’m always putting together the collages of pics from my niece’s birthday celebrations. I figured, I might as well throw one together from my own birthday. I did get a new camera though, so I’ve been playing with that lately. I’ve got some more stuff coming soon as I’ve been writing more than I’ve posted. But until then… God Bless.

They’re baaaaaaaack for the finale!!!

This was the last birthday party for my nieces, but we definitely had some fun. My baby niece fresh off losing a few teeth a while back in that accident, was as happy as can be. I mean, why not? It was her birthday. Once again we all gathered to celebrate with the girls. This time we were again in the chill environment at the house. My sister picked up a cake from some bakery. I actually know the bakery, but since I didn’t like the cake at all, I won’t put them out there like that. However, the cake was very pretty though. We sang the good “Happy Birthday” song as usual, and afterwards the girls dug into the sweets. The time came for the gifts and mommy bought her favorite DVD, Cinderella. Too bad the DVD wasn’t in the stupid case when she opened it. Thanks Target. So as my sister ran back to the store to raise hell, I attempted to assist in opening the gifts. Maaaaan, I had some trouble with one of them, which was some kinda Princess set. I couldn’t open that hard plastic shell to save my life. My niece was looking at me like I was on the short yellow school bus. After struggling for about 2 minutes, I finally got it. She grabbed her necklaces and stuff and off she went to play with her sisters. All in all, it was a wonderful time had by all. Now Uncle G gets a nice reprieve until next April when the birthdays start all over again. 🙂

Dude tried to okie doke me

So, I’m driving home round midnight on the 4th of July and I’m sitting at a red light. I look up to see the car in front of me back all the way up to my bumper.. I’m figuring the guy had gone too far out into the intersection and was trying to get behind the lines. A Hispanic male (maybe between 35-40 yrs old) gets out of the car and walks to my window. Assuming that he may have had an issue with his car or maybe a question to ask me, I cracked my window slightly it to see what was up. All of a sudden without warning he starts pointing his finger at me and hollers out “You’re in big trouble my man. You hit my car!!!!”. He walks to the back of my car to take my tag number and then screams out “Somebody call the police… Somebody call 911″… I’m sitting there like “Awwww hell nawwww… this fool is not about to get me caught up off some nonsense”. My first thought was to get the hell outta dodge. So as I tried to drive around dude, he stood in front of my car and slammed his hands on my hood. I tried to maneuver my car for about 30 seconds and everywhere I moved, dude moved with me. While this was going on, cars were passing on both sides of the street, he continues yelling for someone to call the police and people were looking to see what was going on. To be honest, after he put his hands on my car I initially wanted to jump and clock him, but then I really woulda been in trouble. Instinctively, I put the gear in reverse and drove like an entire block backwards dodging cars and what not. I had to get out of there. I don’t know what slim was tryna pull, but I didn’t want any part of it.

The whole ordeal was crazy. I didn’t hit him and our cars never touched. I don’t know if dude was drunk or what. I had to not be ghetto for a moment, cuz I’m tellin’ you when he blocked my car and put his hands on my hood, I was ready to jump out on him. Then there really wouldve been some mess for the police to come for. So I had to roll out with the quickness. In my haste to depart that situation, I didn’t get his tag or anything. All I know was that it was a blue Honda Civic and the guy looked like actor Edward James Olmos with long hair and had a raspy voice.

It was a lil’ bit unnerving, because I’m on the phone with my fiancee the entire time. I was like “uh oh… I think dude in front of me broke down or somethin'”… I sure as hell didn’t expect for all that craziness to happen. But dude start hollering and screaming in the streets like a madman, I was like “time to bounce”… I didn’t expect him to literally step in front of my car each time I tried to go around his car. That kinda had me shook cuz had I hit the gas, he would been on the windshield. All I kept saying while I was on the phone with her was “This *expletive deleted* is tryna catch me slippin’… I can’t believe this *expletive deleted*”. So I had to back up and drive in reverse to get out. He then pulled off from the light and went the opposite direction. This happened in Beltsville, MD (not too far from the Beltway exit) right at Power Mill Road & Old Gunpowder Road for folks who know the area.

I suppose I did the right thing. I’m still here sitting here to talk about it. For all I know, that guy might’ve really had other plans.

Glad to be safe & sound

Peace & Love…

Cucumber Soda Anyone?, Japanese Apparently Loving It, Courtesy Of Pepsi Co. – CBS News

I’ve always been a fan of Pepsi over Coke and although I don’t tend to drink soda too often, I still grab one ere’ once in a while. I still remember when Crystal Pepsi came out in the early 90’s and I was a fan of it I suppose. I mean, it was actually pretty good and I diggin’ the lemon lime flavor. But less than 2 years later, it was gone. Obviously most folks didn’t like it… or should I say those folks with money who matter.

Since then, Pepsi hasn’t really created anything that I’ve liked that you would consider out of the ordinary. Pepsi Blue that came out around 2002 was just nasty. It tasted like raspberry Robitussin to me. But yet, I tried it.

I’ve taken a few swigs of Pepsi Twist (the lemon infused one), Pepsi Vanilla & Pepsi Lime. But none of these were anything that I would’ve gone out of my way to actually purchase regularly. I’ve purposely avoided the Pepsi Jazz Black Cherry French Vanilla & the Pepsi Jazz Strawberries & Cream that came on the scene about 2 years ago. Both sound nasty and I won’t even waste my time.

Now comes Pepsi with something that I can’t even fathom to be honest, Pepsi Ice Cucumber. At first I’m thinking to myself “This is some kind of Photoshop thing someone emailed me”, but nope it’s real. All I can say is “yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!”. What is this, some kinda of joint venture with Bath & Body Works for the summer? Should we expect a Pepsi Cucumber Melon on our shelves soon? The concept is kind of crazy, but at least it’s not being released here. After reading a few beverage blogs, I’ve realized that people are actually bidding on bottles of this stuff on eBay. I mean, am I the weird one cuz I don’t wish to indulge in this nastiness. I’m always game to try something once, but I dunno about this one. Hell, I at least wanna try and get a bottle of something I can mix this up with. What happened to the good ole days of just plain Pepsi I could mix with some rum? I suppose Cucumber Ice Martinis are what’s on tap for the summer.

What do you think? Does this sound good to you????
